In Container Plants, Landscaping, Maintenance, Plant Care, Plantings & Pruning, Property Management

The winter months with the snow, ice and bare trees make it seem as if spring is a long way off, but it will be here soon and everything will be in bloom again. Use this time when you’re indoors and think about your garden and property. This season instead of the same thing why not try something different. We are sharing some ideas to spruce up your outdoor green space, plus a few maintenance tips for February. And finally, continue to have your property and masonry checked for any damage from the cold.

Tips

  • Take a tour of your garden to see if any of your plants have been uprooted. If so, add extra mulch to insulate the soil.
  • Prune perennials that are overgrown or have frost damage. It’s important to do this because it stimulates growth. Do not assume a plant is dead if it looks brown or black due to dropping temperatures. If you look closely there should be green, live stems and branches.
  • It’s time to shop for seeds. There are so many choices of flowers and vegetables. Start the seedlings inside now and they will be ready for planting once the weather turns warmer.
