The Holiday Season has Arrived & Think Ahead to Spring!

In Holiday Decorating, Landscaping, Lawn Care, Maintenance, Plantings & Pruning

Fall is a transitional time of year. Use it wisely and get your property ready for the dormant season. And the holidays are almost here. It’s time to decorate. Our team can help with lighting, wreathes, garland or any other needs. We can create beautiful arrangements with holly, berry sprigs, pine cones, and a variety of colorful hearty plants for patios, decks, walkways, and front doors. Also, container plantings or window boxes are the perfect way to add color and greenery to any space.

Even though it doesn’t feel like spring, you should begin to plan now. Think about what and where to plant. You can also walk around the property and consider larger projects such as a new or expanded outdoor space, garden shed, stone patio or walkway.

November Tips & Ideas

  • Plant spring-flowering bulbs. They need enough time to develop strong roots before winter. Take a look online or in a catalog to decide what color, shape and size you want. A couple of suggestions: daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, grape hyacinth, and fritillaria.
  • Remove leaves, pine cones, branches, and other debris on your lawn. If left, they will starve the lawn of sunlight and trap moisture.
  • Fall is the last fertilization in the cycle before winter sets in. Plan to fertilize the lawn now.
  • Continue to manage weeds. Just as we mentioned last month, fall’s mild climate is ideal for lawns and unfortunately weeds. Pull as many as you can and then apply a herbicide. Use a weed killer to treat widespread weed problems or for larger lawns.

Let our team of professionals assess your property and determine the best fertilizers and winter prep options to prepare your landscape and garden.

Add Color for the Upcoming Winter Months

As winter approaches, it doesn’t mean your yard and garden have to be void of color and interest. Here are a few options to consider:

Plant boxwoods, holly, yew, juniper, or any other type of evergreen. They are a great low-maintenance landscaping idea that always looks great.

Flowers are not just for spring and summer. This time of year there are so many beautiful flowers and flowering plants, such as winter aconite or snowdrops. They will keep your landscape looking great all season.
