April Chores

For this month, we recommend these tips:

  • Focus on pruning trees and shrubs, and starting seeds for your garden.
  • Before you are tempted to starting mowing the grass right away, hold off. The soil may still be soggy and the temperature could be too cold, so mowing too soon can hurt your grass. Wait until it has grown a few inches, usually around this time. It’s best to water the grass when it first begins to grow.
  • To be sustainable, leave grass clippings and use mulch for both gardens and lawns.
  • Start buying flowers and plants for your property and container plantings. If you are looking for a new flower, try Ranunculus. They come in many colors and are spectacular!

Make Your Landscape and Gardens Pop with Color

Flowering shrubs that thrive in full sun are a great way to make your landscape explode with color. These shrubs must have six to eight hours of direct sunlight, ideally between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. They have gorgeous flowers and you can create a sequence of blooms that will keep your property looking beautiful from spring to fall. Here are a few recommendations: abelia, lilac, forsythia, and hardy hibiscus.

Simple Fence Line Landscaping Ideas

Many homes have fences enclosing their property for security, privacy, and to define an area. While some fences are stylish, others may need some enhancement. Our team can work with you to landscape an existing or new fence that will improve or camouflage the structure with flowers and greenery.
