Take advantage of this time of year to experiment and try some new plants and flowers. There are so many varieties to choose from that thrive in warmer weather. Shake up your usual annuals with gorgeous Summer loving flowers. Try Zinnias, Periwinkles and Moss Rose Purslane to add some gorgeous color to your garden, planters or borders. They thrive in the heat.

Simple to Grow Vegetable Garden Ideas
And don’t forget about vegetables. The ones to try, if you are new to the plant and vegetable world, are tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. The three of them are companion plants and grow easier than other varieties. They are not very high maintenance and only require watering every couple of days in the hot months and then a little less as the weather gets cooler. To ensure you get the best results from your garden, plant basil next to tomato plants. It protects them from common garden pests. If you’re already an established gardener, there are other produce varieties to try that also do not require too much upkeep, including beans, lettuce, peas, carrots, radish, summer squash, zucchini and beets.

Lawn Care Tips to Beat the Summer Heat
The way to know when to water your lawn is to check and be sure it is needed. You do not want to overwater. The best time is in the morning before 10:00am. Make sure you are watering the lawn not on the sidewalk or street. A great Pro Tip is to use a moisture meter. Also, sprinkler systems are a great way to maintain established lawns and landscapes. Make sure to turn them off when it rains so they do not get over watered, which can result in fungal issues. During the Summer, lawns need approximately an inch of water once a week.
