December To Dos:

  • Keep mulching your perennials.
  • Secure ties and supports for evergreen shrubs to avoid breakage from snow.
  • Check that burlap or netting is secure, so trees and shrubs are shielded from winter burn, snow/ice, wind and deer. Remove coverings in late winter/early spring to prevent overheating.

Container Planting Ideas

During winter, replace current container plantings and window boxes with fresh flowers to add color throughout your property. Check out a few suggestions:

Flowers & Berries

  • Pansies & Violas – Vibrant, hardy annuals
  • Snowdrops – Delicate white flowers bloom through snow
  • Snapdragons – Shorter options are great for container plantings
  • Holly Berries – Add bright, lasting color
