February Outdoor Chores

  • Pruning: trees, shrubs, climbers, and perennials want trimming before spring growth starts, which in our area is late February. Now is the time to cut branches from forsythia, some hydrangea, black-eyed susan, and russian sage, to name a few.
  • Weather Damage: Walk around your property and check for repairs that are needed from broken branches, ice or snow.
  • Seed Time: Start planting seeds for annuals that require long growing seasons, including petunia, snapdragon, verbena, and browallia.

Landscape Enhancement Idea

Looking for something new for your backyard? Consider an herb spiral. It’s more space efficient than a traditional, flat garden. Plus, it’s a great example of sustainable gardening that is easier to harvest and reduces the need for watering. The spiral is drier at the top for more sun-loving herbs and the bottom is moist to accommodate a variety of herbs that need more water.

Add Color with Flowers

Don’t forget about container plantings. This time of year there are many types of red berry plants, evergreens and hearty flowers to brighten your landscape. Whether it’s at a front door, walkway or porch, we can create the perfect mix and refresh them throughout the season.

We provide expert pruning, prompt repair services or design consultation for a patio or outdoor space. Or anything else you need.
