REMINDER: Schedule Aerating and Lawn Seeding Now!
Late summer to early fall is the best time to aerate and seed the lawn. This helps loosen compacted soil and lets water, oxygen, and nutrients reach the roots, which will make them stronger before winter. Contact us to get on the schedule: 203.622.6070.
August To-Dos:
Pruning & Fertilizing:
- Continue to fertilize container plantings and annuals each month.

- Looking to plant evergreens? The best time to start is now through mid-October.
Flowers for Fall
After getting used to months of beautiful blooms, the cooler weather doesn’t mean it has to end. In fact, we have some suggestions that can be planted right now and will extend your gardening season.
Winter-Flowering Violas – These orange and purple flowers add great color and are very resilient. They’re able to bloom from autumn to winter and do not require much maintenance.
Asters – This flower’s daisy-like blooms in shades of pink and purple and pink are perfect for brightening up fall gardens and attracting pollinators later into the year.
Penstemons – Are a hardy perennial plant with trumpet-shaped flowers. And if they are already flowering when planted, Penstemons can continue to bloom until the first frost.
